Rainfall Report – January 2018

2018 has started much the same as 2017 ended with a lot of wet days. January saw 21 wet days with 90 mm (3½ inches) of rainfall, just above the January average of 84 mm (3¼ inches). There was a very wet period commencing January 15 with rainfall on 12 successive days totalling 66.5 mm (2½ inches).

The wettest January I have recorded was 2014 with 189 mm (7½ inches) and 28 wet days. You will remember, this was the year of the massive flooding on the Somerset levels. The driest was 1997 with just 14mm (½ inch) and 4 wet days.
