The WI plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities and the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.
The organisation was formed in 1915 and we followed suit in 1925. There are currently 212,526 members nationally, making it the largest voluntary women’s organisation in the UK. Here in Rimpton and Marston Magna we have a membership of 34 and we meet on the second Monday of each month at 7.30pm in Marston Magna Village Hall. Please contact the President Jenny Dench 850592 for a chat or just come along and visit one of our meetings. You will be certain of a warm welcome.
At each meeting we usually spend approximately 30 minutes updating members with events that have taken place and giving notice of ones to come. This is very often followed by a speaker and we spend another half hour socialising over refreshments.
